Transforming and empowering destitute women of Northeast India.
WETE was established in October 2007 with a goal to provide opportunities to destitute women – widows, orphans, recovered substance abusers and prostitutes of our community to support themselves and their families.
WETE provides free training in weaving, embroideries, sewing and marketing for 6 months so that they can earn for themselves.
WETE produces wraparounds (used locally by women), traditional shawls, school uniforms, ladies bags, computer bags, necklaces, cushion covers, dinning table cloths, etc.
Presently 25 women are working at WETE.
The greatest challenge is finding a market for our products! When you buy our products YOU ARE HELPING WIDOWS, ORPHANS, DISPLACED AND HOMELESS WOMEN.
